Site preparation/excavation
PondGard EPDM requires minimal preparation prior to installation. Generally, only vegetation and large rocks are removed from the surface. A Protection Mat may be required before installing the membrane in areas needing added protection.

Installation
EPDM panel sizes that best fit the area to be covered are unrolled, positioned and smoothed into place.  We provide panel sizes as small as 8’x10’ (2.4 m x 3 m) and as large as 50’ x 200’ (15.2 m x 61 m) to accommodate the requirements of any size job and minimize seaming.

Seaming
High-quality field seams are installed quickly and easily with our three-inch QuickSeam tape and six-inch Batten Cover Strips. The edges of the PondGard EPDM panels are overlapped a minimum of six inches (15 cm). The overlapped area is cleaned and primed with Quickprime Plus, and the QuickSeam tape is applied to form high-quality, watertight seams. Nondestructive airlance testing is performed to assess the in-place quality of the field fabricated seams. QuickSeam tape seams exhibit strong initial bond strength and become even stronger with time and exposure.

Details and Trenching
The PondGard EPMD membrane is trimmed and anchored in a trench around the pond perimeter to ensure the liner will remain securely in place. In many cases, details such as corners and small pipes can be sealed quickly and easily using our QuickSeam products.  FormFlash (unvulcanized rubber sheet) should be used when dealing with large or irregular details. More information and details can be found in the PondGard Technical Manual.
